Millennials are Obsessed with Skin Care… and it’s not a bad thing

Millennials and their skincare are a big deal right now. In fact, it’s believed that no generation has cared more about the health of their skin and maintaining that youthful glow than millennials. How do we know this to be true? They’re talking about it… a lot. (They love to talk about skincare.) 

Recommending products to friends — definitely. Chatting about products online or on social media — a given. This is how millennials talk about and choose the skin care they use. It makes sense — millennials are a generation of sharers.  And because of that, it’s easy to determine what’s popular, what’s trendy and ultimately, what works for them in preventing signs of aging and maintaining the youthful glow of a twenty-something year old. 

Studies have shown that the age women are beginning to care, really actually care, about their skin and anti-aging skin care, is getting younger and younger. Not only are younger women paying closer attention to their skin by preventing signs of aging —  by using SPF each and every day, for example — but they’re investing in products that keep skin moisturized and nourished, so they can prevent and treat any fine lines and wrinkles at the same time. And this is so important. Beginning to give your skin the key ingredients it needs now in your 20s, 30s and 40s is your best bet at allowing skin to remain youthful and glowing.


Women in their 20s and 30s who have unlocked the secret to beautiful skin care deeply about a few things:  


They care about serums.

Serums of all types are a hot ticket item right now. They are super concentrated formulas — you need just a couple drops a day to allow a serum to do its job. A serum that millennial women especially need? Vitamin C. Millennials are young and in their prime of life, but they’re still getting older — it’s just one of those things that is inevitable. They care about moisturizer.

No matter what type of mask you use, use it sparingly to give your skin a special little treat that it doesn’t get it all the time — simply put, it doesn’t need it all the time. They are perfect for a bit of a revamp, and they’re all-stars at prepping skin for makeup.


They use SPF.

They apply SPF like it’s their job. This generation of women actually care more about the prevention of aging than the treatment, so they’re very smart and more proactive when it comes to preventing sun damage, at all costs. After all, sun damage is one the main culprits of premature aging of the skin.


They like to keep their skincare simple.

They choose products with ingredients that they can pronounce — ones like vitamins, green tea and seaweed. They’re more conscious of the risks of harmful ingredients in skin care and want to know exactly what an ingredient is and what purpose it serves.
